On the Go with iGo2

The NEW Drive DeVilbiss iGo2 Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) sets you free to go anywhere and everywhere, making travelling with oxygen much easier than other oxygen delivery methods. Here are some things to keep in mind when traveling with oxygen:

Air Travel

  • The iGo2 is approved for commercial aircraft use
  • Each airline has different rules: When making your reservation, check with the airline as early as possible regarding specific regulations and restrictions that may apply to using oxygen therapy devices onboard your flight. Not all airlines allow the use of POCs and some airlines may even provide you with oxygen. Certain airlines may even charge for oxygen
  • The airline may also require written confirmation from your GP that you are able to fly and that you need your oxygen therapy device during the flight

Bus/Coach Travel

  • Public Transport companies allow the use of supplemental oxygen devices like the iGo2 during travel
  • Bus and coach companies generally ask that you give them 48-hours’ notice if you intend to use of your POC device whilst traveling
  • Ensure you have sufficient battery life before travelling – power outlets are not always available on public transport, but may be accessible in some terminals and stations

Railway Travel

  • Most railway companies allow the use of supplemental oxygen devices like the iGo2 during travel
  • Like air travel, you may be required to notify the rail line regarding your POC device prior to booking. Please contact your travel agency or the railway company as soon as possible regarding specific regulations and restrictions that may apply to using oxygen therapy devices during travel
  • Ensure you have sufficient battery life before travelling – power outlets are not always available on public transport, but may be accessible in some terminals and stations
  • Electrical outlets are usually available for passengers travelling in a sleeping car/carriage, but please check with the rail line before travelling

Sea Travel

  • Most cruise liners permit the use of supplemental oxygen devices like the iGo2 onboard
  • Contact your travel agent or cruise line company prior to travel to fully understand their specific guidelines for using medical devices onboard
  • Generally, cruise liners will have electrical outlets allowing you to recharge your iGo2 battery
  • Please contact your travel agent or cruise line company to ensure you have access to external power in your cabin

Car Travel

  • When travelling by car use the DC power adapter included with your iGo2 to power your POC
  • Before connecting the iGo2 to auxiliary power ensure that the car’s engine is running. Using the iGo2 with the car’s engine turned off will drain the cars battery

Walking

  • Your iGo2 includes SmartDose technology
  • Once the flow rate of choice has been set in SmartDose, there is no need to manually change the settings. During activity your iGo2 will automatically adjust oxygen therapy so you don’t have to. SmartDose helps you stay active without getting breathless
  • The iGo2 carry case is conveniently designed allowing you access to the controls, cannula and battery, plus concealing the fact that it’s a medical device
  • Using the iGo2 in its carry case is simple and easy and gives you the independence to walk and breathe freely

Important reminders:

  • As with all oxygen concentrators the iGo2 is a device that produces concentrated oxygen and therefore we strongly advise you not to smoke whilst using the iGo2
  • If you believe you may be travelling to a location with a change of altitude and climate that may affect your breathing, consult with your GP before travelling regarding your oxygen setting
  • Which ever mode of travelling you choose; always ensure you have fully charged batterie(s) for your journey and the necessary power cords should you need to use external power
